He Heals!
Hiiya!! Soo happy to be writing an email today! My heart is so grateful for the experiences i have been able to have this week. This week was hard but im so grateful for the atonement and grace of God that helps push me forward! Im grateful that the lord still delivers even when we feel low! The mission really heals aching hearts!
Divine timing and guidance!!
One night I was praying to know where we needed to be the following day. I got the words "Brinnington @ 3pm to see the boy on the bike." I could not believe how specific this prompting was. I knew we needed to act on it. The day was set up so imperfectly perfect. The lord was guiding our footsteps the whole day! During the day i was feeling a bit down. I was having a really hard time getting into a spiritual mood.
It was then time to go to Brinnington. We said a few prayers to make sure we were ready for what the lord had in store for us! As we headed to the library entrance, there was no one. Not a single person. No kid on a bike. No one that we could talk to. I started to build some doubt in the prompting I had received. We decided to go into the library and i started having the greatest internal battle. I didnt know what to do. I felt like i was letting heavenly father down. I felt like a complete failure.
After a little bit of time we decided to say a prayer to ask the lord what else we needed to do. On the way out of the library we saw this sweet lady smoking a cigarette on the bench right the library. I knew we needed to talk to her. Her name is Abu! She was so kind and is seeking for God. We exchanged numbers and a sweet hug and we went on our way!
The bus to get back to stcokport, 325, was a solid 20 minute wait but to our amazement it showed up in 5. When we got on the bus, we sat down behind a lady that was wearing a hood. We tried talking to her a little bit but she wasn't super engaged in the conversation. After trying to talk to her for a bit, she turned back around in her seat and took off her hood. When she did, i noticed that her hair looked REALLY familiar. I knew i had seen her before. Sister Slade looked over at me and mouthed, “Wait I think we know this girl.” pointing to the woman in front of us. So we tapped on her shoulder again and said “Wait, weren't you on this bus last week?” She nodded her head and said, “Yes I was, I saw the two of you too.” I was so shocked.
A week ago we were on the same bus in the same spot sitting behind this same lady. God had delivered her once again into our hands. We began to plan what we were going to do if she got off the same stop as us! To our amazement she got off the same stop! When we got off we ran to her! Sister Slade bore the most beautiful testimony to her and she was just blown away! Sister Slade began to explain the book of mormon to her and she was amazed in fact she said, "Can I have that?" Of course we gave it to her!
Sister Slade had the strongest feeling that she needed to put this new book of mormon in her bag instead of her old one. She also highlighted some verse in 3 nephi. The lord prepared sister Slade to give this to our sweet friend.
I know now why we needed to go to Brinnington. It wasn't to see the kid on the bike but it was to see someone we have already seen before! The details of the planning that went into this interaction was so perfect yet in the moment I grew so much doubt. God knows so much better than we will ever know. I was humbled so quickly that day. I'm so grateful for the atonement and the ability I had to apologise to heavenly father and jesus christ for my doubts. I feel so blessed that they have the mercy and love to trust imperfect people with their precious children. This experience taught me so much. He is so aware and present in every moment!
He continues to deliver to his servants even when they are weighed down!
Jesse ditches the coffee and tea!!
This week we taught our friend Jesse the word of wisdom! We were super nervous for this lesson because Jesse loves cappuccinos and tea, it brings him so much joy! But, we pressed forward in faith and believed he would understand this commandment and that he would follow it. We prayed and prayed and prayed that Jesse's heart would be softened and that by the power of God he would be able to give these things up! As we taught him the spirit was so strong! He accepted the invitation to keep the word of wisdom! My heart swelled. In that moment I truly saw that Jesse has a testimony of the church of Jesus christ of Latter-Day Saints! He is willing to give up everything to be baptised! What a special moment this was! We're so excited to see Jesse make his first covenant with heavenly father! Jesse has changed my life!! Im so grateful that my mission has led me to meet the most lovely people!
Spiritual thought!
I have loved the getting to study the book of mormon for come follow me this year! My testimony of the book of mormon has already grown so much over the last few weeks of studying it! My pleading was answered through this verse this week!
1 Nephi 8:30
30 But, to be short in writing, behold, he saw other multitudes pressing forward; and they came and caught hold of the end of the rod of iron; and they did press their way forward, continually holding fast to the rod of iron, until they came forth and fell down and partook of the fruit of the tree.
In this context I thought of the tree as jesus christ and the fruit as the atonement!
Im going to change the wording a bit...
30 But, to be short in writing, behold, he saw other multitudes pressing forward towards Jesus Christ; and they came and caught hold of the end of the rod of iron; and they did press their way forward towards Jesus Christ, continually holding fast to the rod of iron, until they came forth and fell down and partook of the atonement of Jesus Christ.
These multitudes were having one-on-one experinces with jesus christ. It was the type of experience to cause them to fall on their knees and never forget.
Are you having significant one-on-one experiences with jesus christ through the atonement?
If you arent...CHANGE!!
The atonement of jesus christ is for everyone. He doesnt limit the use to anyone. It is the gift that keeps on giving! His fruit never runs out! The tree of life never moves!
RUN TO HIM! PLEAD TO HIM! HIS FRUIT HEALS!
Healing can only begin when you accept that something is broken and is in need of fixing♡
Let him and his atonement fix your brokenness.
